+ Name: Ebony
+ Gender: Male
+ Species: Snow Leopard
+ Side: None
It was snowing. The light, cold and dry flakes of ice filtered down from the sky onto a feline. His form was large, larger than a large wolf in comparison. His tail was around his length which was about 1.3 meters. His pelt was not that of a normal Snow Leopard, of which he obviously was. No, he was not the normal light tan color with white underbelly and chin, but instead he was a pure and almost blinding white. He was not completely white, though. His ear tips were a medium blue-Grey, that faded down the length to blend with the white head, and spots ran over him. They were the largest on his torso and tail, getting smaller as they came up his neck, to be only over-sized dots on his face and forehead. They were large all down his legs until about four inches were left, and they got smaller and less frequent. On his tail, there was almost two lines on the sides, leaving more-or less a stripe of white down the middle, until it got about three fourths of the way down, to which it switched to long almost stripes that ran the width of his tail, fading again to a darker shade of Grey-blue till his tail was tipped with the same color as his ears.
He was pacing back and forth, his head low, and tail lowered enough to almost drag on the ground, if he hadn't held it up a few inches. His coat was thick, holding in his heat and keeping him neutral warm in the cold. It was especially thick around his neck, and longer and softer under his stomach and chest. His eyes were an opaque Grey from a distance, and a pale blue if you looked closely.
Flashback:
"Ebony. Meaning: Dark strength." Said a voice from the darkness. A small cub squirmed to break free from a strange grasp, trying to get back to the comforting warmth of his mother.
His pacing stopped suddenly, a white hare peered at him from the skeleton-like underbrush, but he wasn't hungry. With a wave of sickening revolution he was attacked by another onslaught of memories.
Flashback:
In a rocky outcropping, blanketed with snow two cubs played. One was the normal dull light brown, the other a bright and pure white. Fake snarls came from both the half-grown cubs as the wrestled. A sheer drop was a few feet away from where they played, but they payed no attention. Pouncing and playing, the two came nearer, and nearer to the drop. One fatal kick sent the darker cub off the cliff. The other, scampering up, stepped to the edge and looked down, a forlorn cry forced from his lips; "Amory!" But it was hopeless, she was gone.
The next moment the youth was surrounded by elders, accusing voices asked questions long forgotten. He was banished, marked not with the title of murderer, but with the worse title of outcast.
He wandered the world alone, teaching himself to hunt and new ways to do so that his family would never think up. He grew to be a powerful warrior, never went hungry when there was almost any sort of prey near, or even far. He lived now in the forests, nothing but a silent shadow on the path.
But now, he thought, there is a war, and I am caught in the middle of it. Choosing sides would not be easy. A thought had occurred to him, to stay out of it, to lead his own life and have no part in the war. But now another thought came to him, what if he didn't choose a side? Could it be done? Could he fight in a war that he was not 'part' of? The thought of assassin came to his mind, but he pushed it away, he would be mis-trusted too soon if he was to be that. Spy was another idea, but he would need to pick a side for that as well.
What would the feline do? How could he fight without a side? Would he switch from side to side, or would he pick? And more importantly, would he be a part of the war at all? Suddenly his head swirled with a perfect idea. He would be a nomad. Warrior to both sides, feared and held in awe. They would ask for his help in their time of need, and he would come if he wished, or perhaps he would watch them fall. He would be his own. He would not be restrained.
He would be Ebony. Dark strength.
