The young red fox padded through the mountains slowly and lazily. She did not have a clue of where she was headed, but she felt that she had to keep coming this way. Her paws ached from the journey that took her here from her long forgotten home of the lush green trees and plants. The place where everything broke in her life and this whole thing started. She remembered only a little about it now. She knew it was called the Forest of Lumbai. She could almost scent the prey that danced into their paws, but then it would black out and the next thing she would see was the fire, and the battles after battles that plagued their home when the second army moved in. Her father's army was the army of Lumbai of course, but their's! Oh their's was vicious. She remembered the name well. And it sent chills down her spine to hear it. Not because of the name, but because the day she heard it was the day that everything change. She never spoke of it, and she barely even spoke at all. It had beens moons since she had heard her own voice, and she felt that she had lost it along with her family and home...

(OOC: Mind if I pop in? A little museless, but I'll try to keep things moving. =3)
The fox was not alone in these mountains.
Panting from heat he was so unused to, a young phase-black wolf padded silently along a high ridge. His silver-tipped black brush swayed out behind his rather scrawny frame in a careless manner, clearly unfazed by the dizzying drop but a few feet to his left. Being so high up, his altitude afforded him a perfect view over the surrounding lands. A view not lost upon the wolf, as he stopped for a rest and let his icy blue orbs take in the panorama of the entire south, plopping to his haunches and shaking his thick, stifling coat.
Akuju, not unusually, was rather bored. Why else would he be scaling these mountains? He wasn't particularly interested in the scenery, though it did give him a good chance to scope out the land a little. He was still unused to the lands of the south, and so decided that a little exploring might be in order. As luck would have it, he could see all the major areas of the Light's land from where he rested. Some places, like the Light's Camp were bareyl visible throug hte forests cloaking the earth, But Akuju's eyes were sharp and he had only moderate difficulty picking out the slightest thinning of the trees, the faintest blotch of brown tents, the glimmer of a far-orr stream. Akuju blinked, narrowing his eyes slightly against the glare of the sun.
'Why do these damned mountains have to be so hot? Sure, they're not particularly high, but you'd at least expect a breeze of some sort. I hate this stupid weather. Why can't it just rain? I'd prefer slipping every five minutes to baking up here on these rocks.'
Well, he'd done his expedition for the day. Maybe it was time to head back down, before the sun reached its zenith and he was cooked alive. His heavy, dark coat might have helped him many a time through bitter blizzards far past even the lands of the darks, but it certainly wasn't doing him favors here. With a sigh, the wolf lurched to his feet.
As he did so, he spotted something moving out of the corner of his eye. Ears pricked upwards as his muzzle turned towards what was now visible as a fox, meandering seemingly aimlessly through the peaks.
'Where do all these foxes come from? I was sure there was no one here a moment ago. Hmph. I hope they burn.'
Maybe he could terrorize them for a bit. But no, that'd take to much energy in this weather. And again unusually, Akuju wasn't really in that bad of a mood anyway. No mood to go and make friends or anything of course, this WAS Akuju after all, but maybe a brief hello might not be too out-of-character for him.
So, rather half-assedly, he lifted his silver muzzle and let out a short howl, his call reverbrating through the mountain range.
(Bit of a brain fart, sorry. ^^ Too hot over here to think. xD)

ooc: I don't mind.
The young red fox lifted her muzzle at the sound of a lone wolf's howl. She spotted him easily and wondered why he would wish to speak to her. Wolves usually kept to their own back where she once lived. She realized that he wished to speak to her, and she knew that she could not disappear. Not in this heat anyway. It was much too hot to outrun a wolf, so she abliged him and began to pad over to where he stood.
When she reached the wolf, she spoke softly, afraid of what her voice would sound like after so many seasons, "H-hello. I did not know that anyone else traveled these mountains. I would say that they are much too hot to live on as well. I do hope you do not live anywhere near here. You would surely die of exhaustion. Oh, but I see that I speak too much. I do not mean to. I have not spoken to anyone for over a year now. My name is Hitori. Might I ask you who you may be?" She did not know if she had come off too chatty, but she wasn't used to talking.
Where she used to live. The young pups hardly talked at all. They only listened to the elders and their stories, or to their parents and their instructions. The ones who had finished training were the ones who truly spoke, and spoke wisely too, but she had never finsihed training after her home was destroyed.
